How it works

From a set of drawings to a costed estimate

No take-off sheets, no retyping quantities into a spreadsheet. Three steps, a few minutes.

Upload your drawings

Plans, sections, elevations, site plan and schedules. Every sheet is read: dimensions, areas, notes and window and door schedules.

Bill measures it

Bill, our take-off assistant, builds the bill of quantities trade by trade and shows the arithmetic and every assumption behind each item.

See the cost, then beat it

Every material is priced from current supplier prices for an indicative total. Then invite suppliers to quote on your list and bring it down.

What you get

Everything an early-stage estimate needs

Built around how South African practices actually price a house: the ASAQS trades, SANS 10400, and the local suppliers your contractors buy from.

Bill of quantities in minutes

Earthworks to paintwork in ASAQS order, with quantities, units, the basis of each measurement and a confidence level.

Priced material schedule

Bricks, cement, sand, stone, steel, timber, roofing, ceilings, tiles, paint and plumbing — each with an indicative price and range.

Early estimate from a brief

No drawings yet? Give the floor area, storeys and quality, and Bill drafts an early estimate you can refine later.

Benchmark check

Every estimate is compared with the AECOM Africa cost guide rate per m² for its quality class, so an outlier stands out.

Excel & PDF exports

A clean workbook with live formulas, trade totals and a summary — ready for your QS, your client or your own rates.

Supplier price saver

Send your material list to building-material suppliers in your area. They quote line by line in sealed quotes; you compare and accept the best.

Indicative material prices

Real supplier prices, refreshed every month

We collect South African building-material prices on the 1st of every month and work out a median for each material, with the range. It is a realistic ballpark the moment Bill finishes measuring — before anyone has quoted.

  • Per unit Bill measures in — per bag, per 1 000 bricks, per m³, per metre or per m² — so the maths just works.
  • Range, not just one number, so you can see how much room a supplier quote has to move.
  • Firm prices come from suppliers: invite them to quote on your list and compare against the indicative price.

Questions

Frequently asked

Does GetEstimatED replace my quantity surveyor?

No. Bill drafts the bill of quantities and the material schedule from your drawings so the measuring is done in minutes. Where a signed BOQ is needed, a registered quantity surveyor reviews and signs it — and QSs use GetEstimatED to get there faster.

How accurate are the indicative prices?

They come from the published prices of South African building-material suppliers, collected monthly, and each material shows the median and the range. Treat them as a well-founded ballpark; for firm prices, invite suppliers to quote on your list.

What drawings can I upload?

PDF drawings: plans, sections, elevations, site plans and schedules, as single sheets or full sets. No drawings yet? Run an early estimate from a short brief and refine it when the drawings are ready.

What does AI usage cost?

Reading drawings and measuring them uses AI, which is billed with your monthly subscription and itemised on your invoice. Your dashboard shows the running total for the month, so there are no surprises.

Who can see my projects?

Only your practice. Every account's projects, drawings and estimates are kept separate, and suppliers only ever see a material list you choose to send out for quotes — never your drawings or your client's details.

How do supplier quotes work?

From any estimate, choose Get supplier prices, the province and town for delivery, and a closing date. Every subscribed supplier delivering there gets an email and quotes line by line, with delivery and validity. Quotes are sealed: suppliers never see each other’s prices. You compare them side by side against the indicative price and accept one — only then does that supplier get your contact details.

Can I use my own rates?

Yes. Export the bill of quantities to Excel: it comes with live formulas and trade totals, ready for your own rates.
